I tried using a rope for sitting today (I know that sounds crazy, but bear with me). Basically, I noticed that having a thin support that only touches your sit bones can be quite nice when sitting for long periods of time like meditation. However, today, when I tried this method, I found my butt just as sore as when I use a cushion. Still searching for the perfect seat...
